Les miserables

Sooo... I guess I fell a little bit in love with Les Miserables after reading the book? Have some Les Mis related sketchy things.

Sleeping dwarfs

Another cute hobbit picture, because, between dragons and orgs and wargs there should be some cuteness, right? Also, maybe, I just suck a little at fighting scenes...

Oh yeah, my sketchbook has a very inconvenient spiral that makes gradient-free scanning almost impossible...

I read Lord of the Rings. And the Hobbit. AND I saw all movies (Lotr and the new Hobbit). And I'm wrestling through the Dutch translation of the Silmarillion (seriously, what's up with Dutch translators?). So no, I absolutely did NOT draw fanart. I would never...

Death and all his friends

Or his scythe, more like it. Another mostly Dark Souls themed sketch, with some focus on draped fabrics (credit for the Death-draped-fabric-idea goes completely to someone else ;) ).

And now I can't stop thinking about Binky. If I ever figure out how to draw horses properly, you'll get a mounted Death :)

Bad influence

So a friend of mine introduced me to Dark Souls, and it turned to be ridiculously inspirational. I won't ever play it, as I don't own a ps3 and more importantly, I suck at video games, but I'll surely look up some more art.

Troy and Joyce from Midsummer Murders, a show I've definitely seen enough of for a while. I can practically whistle the tune and I can't even whistle!

More fanart

Because playing Kingdom Hearts means seeing Cloud, and seeing Cloud means thinking: "Zack!". Because Zack is much cooler, and a lot less depressive.
Off to rewatch Advent Children now, since I haven't seen that one in quite a while.

What shall I say about that texture? Yup, my scanner still sucks.

The Flurry of Dancing Flames

Would you agree with me if I say I find that an incredibly stupid, un-menacing name? It might just be me, but flurry makes me think of bunnies ('furry') and icecream ('mcflurry').

More to the point: I finished playing Kingdom Hearts II, again. Can't help but to love Axel, no?

Paper texture all mine. Why? Because the stupid thing wouldn't let itself be removed from the image. Hurrah for over-textured paper 8)

Drawing me

This is a selfportrait without mirror. And I can tell you: that's really hard.
So while not very correct, it was very much fun to do. But in the end it doesn't really look like me at all. Or so I think ;).

My heart

Not literally, of course. What began as a sketch to practice swirly patterns (I do not like patterns, not to design them myself at least. Unruly things, patterns) grew into a art-schoolish experimental pen-picture.
It's not very visible, but the lines and writing, which is deliberately near-unreadable, depict the major veins of the heart. I think 'aorta', left on top, is still readable.

Pre-Kiwi - White II

A companion piece to White I (wow, you wouldn't have guessed that, would you?), also in graphite pencil and colored pencils and a lot less white than her sister, I see. Yes, I should have scanned it. No, haven't done that. Sorry!

By the way, today I'll be leaving for Florence :)

Two Sketches I Should Really Do Something With

Because they're awesome. Well, the idea behind them is.
The left could be a fantasy or steam-punk character, maybe something post-apocalyptic? Oh, the endless possibilities behind the missing arm, the small knife, the absence of clothes. That, and I just really like drawing stuff that's out of the ordinary.
Right is a little more ordinary, more comic-y. The big arrow is supposed to be part of the store behind him/her and he/she is coincidentally standing under it, suddenly becoming the center of attention. Imagine some dreary blue and wet colors around a much too bright sign and you're almost there.

Eye Inception

Some weeks ago I enrolled in a Pre-Art Academy Preparation Course. That are too many pre's, aren't it? Anyway, the first thing they made us do was draw a scene from mind. Or rather our perception of a scene. The only thing that would come to my mind was the hotel/gravity shift scene from Inception (awesome movie, btw.) which is the charcoal drawing on the back.
A lesson later, we had to put a part of our faces on top of our previous drawing. Hence the monstrous eye. The eye is: graphite pencil, some white chalk, and acrylic paint in white and blue.
Oh, and this painting is LARGE in real life. About a good two meters high and one and a half meters wide. That's big. Trust me.

Pre-Kiwi - White

Since blogger so far won't allow me to make a portfolio page -- it keeps aligning the pictures weirdly -- I'll do several posts of already finished works. It'll fill my page quite nicely, AND it will give you an idea of what's to come.

Here's the first in the "Pre-Kiwi" series, a pencil piece called "White".
